Caution   Before using these products be sure to read the following notes

Please follow these operating instructions for correct and safe use of the products, Also included are important notes in order to prevent injury to user and damage to machines and devices.

Read these instructions carefully before making your selection of damper or using them.

Insufficient mounting strength of damper or insufficient strength of the unit to which the damper is mounted

Operating dampers with Insufficient mounting strength of damper or insufficient strength of the unit to which the damper is mounted may cause damage to the machine /device and there is a risk of injury.

Insufficient mounting strength of damper or insufficient strength of the unit to which the damper is mounted may generate abnormal noise or cause malfunction

In order to determine the appropriate mounting strength of the unit to which the damper is to be mounted ,ensure that the value of “loading torque *safety ratio”is met before mounting the product securely.

Over-tightening of the mounting screws

When using screws to mount gear dampers,over-tightenning of the mounting screws may damage the damper is mounting or the body proper ,with possible consequence of damage to the machine /device and risk of injury.

Use the correct tightening torque for type and size of screws used.

Insufficient insertion of snap-fit type gear damper

When using snap[-fit type gear damper ,ensure that you fully insert them into the unit to which the damper is mounted,otherwise the damper may be liable to fall out or damage may be caused to the damper ,with possible subsequent damage to the machine /device or risk of injury.

Mounting dampers to units non-recommended fitting shape 

Snap-fit type gear damper ,or barrel dampers to units that are not of the recommended fitting shape may cause the damper to fall out or may damage the body proper ,with possible subsequent damage to the machine/device or risk of injury.

Lateral pressure to the gear / shaft

Applying pressure to the sides of the rotating gear/shaft (lateral pressure) may cause damage to the damper (body proper .gear and rotating shaft)and oil leakage. with possible subsequent damage to the machine /device or risk of injury.

Tension to the gear 

Pulling on the gear of gear damper (see the illustration below)may cause damage to the gear ,cause it to drop or to be moved out of center ,or could cause oil leakage , with possible subsequent damage to the machine /device or risk of injury.

During the design process or assembly operation .ensure that the damper gear is mounted parallel to the gear /rack of the unit to which the damper gear is mounted.

Using damper beyond the specified torque 

Using damper beyond the specified torque range may cause oil leakage deterioration of performance ,damage to the damper , with possible subsequent damage to the machine /device or risk of injury.

Using dampers beyond the durability 

Using dampers beyond the durability may cause oil leakage deterioration of performance ,damage to the damper , with possible subsequent damage to the machine /device or risk of injury.

Using dampers at high speeds

Using dampers at high speeds may cause oil leakage deterioration of performance ,damage to the damper (body proper,gear,rotating shaft ,etc0, with possible subsequent damage to the machine /device or risk of injury.

The rotation speeds for each damper is listed in the Durability“column of the catalogue.

Using dampers at high /low temperatures

Using dampers at high /low temperatures may cause oil leakage deterioration of performance  or torque, with possible subsequent damage to the machine /device or risk of injury.

Ensure that you use the products within the range of temperature recommended for their use.

(The recommended temperatures for use is NOT the same as the guaranteed temperature)

The recommended temperature for use  each type of damper is listed in the Durability“column of the catalogue.

The operating environment for use of dampers

Do not use dampers under vacuum or at high pressures.

Avoid using dampers outdoors or in the other locations in which the damper would be exposed to the dust or to the rain.

 Avoid using dampers in environments where they would be exposed to grease ,lubricants or chemical agents/substances.

Avoid using dampers in environments where they would be exposed to metal fillings,machine oil ,water ,etc.

If dampers are used in the above-mentioned conditions,they may suffer damage , with possible subsequent damage to the machine /device or risk of injury.

Title: Damper & rotary damper 

Damper is to provide the resistance, reduced energy consumption devices. Energy absorption damping use damping to no new technologies in aerospace, aviation, military, guns, car industry has long been applied in a wide variety of dampers (shock absorbers) vibration energy dissipation. Since in the 1970 of the 20th century, people began to gradually turn these technologies into buildings, bridges, railways and other structures, which develops very fast. Particularly if there is more than 50-year history of hydraulic viscous dampers, in the United States is structural engineering acceptance of previous, experienced a number of experiments, scrutiny, repeated argument, especially the long process of Quake.

Damper include rotary damper, and rotary damper include small rotary dampers and vane rotary dampers. Small rotary dampers have two types, one is uni-direction damper, another is uni-direction damper. Uni-direction include clockwise direction and counter-clickwise direction. All types vane dampers are one-way direction damper, the damping moment is determined by the viscosity of the fluid and the size of the orifice or gap.


Title: Damper’s characteristics

This is a rotary damper that utilizes the breaking force generated by the oil’s viscosity resistance, the braking force generated by oil viscosity, clearance between the rotor and the main body, and the oil’s contact area varies.

1. Speed characteristics:

A rotary damper's torque varies according to the rotation speed. In general, as shown in the graph to the right, the torque increases as the rotation speed increases, and the torque decreases as the rotation speed decreases. In addition, please note that the starting torque slightly differs from the rated torque.

2. Temperature characteristics:

A rotary damper's torque varies according to the ambient temperature. In addition, as shown in the graph to the right, the torque decreases as the ambient temperature increases, and the torque increases as the ambient temperature decreases. This is because the viscosity of the silicone oil inside the damper varies according to the temperature. When the temperature returns to normal, the torque will return to normal as well.

    

Title: How to selecte the suitable type of damper?

Selection of Rotary Damper and Vane Damper

1f the rotating shaft and the damper’s axis are directly connected, the approximate torque can be calculated based on the following equation if the lid size and the weight are known. 

L: Dimensions of the lid (m)

M: Weight of the lid (kg)

Using the above equation, determine the maximum torque generated immediately prior to the closing of the lid. Use a prototype to confirm its performance in an actual machine, and determine the torque required. Fine adjustment of the torque can be done by varying the viscosity of the oil inside the damper.

If the damper’s rotating shaft and the lid’s rotating shaft are connected by a lever or a gear, the results of the aforementioned torque calculation will vary according to the lever ratio or gear ratio.

If the gear ratio is 1:n, a damper torque that is n times the regular damper torque will be required,

There is no exact method for determining whether a damper is suitable for the application or not. In the event that closing time is chosen as a factor, an apparent damper effect can be observed if it takes 2 seconds or longer for the lid to fully close after it is allowed to free-fall from a 60° angle. However, it is ultimately up to the user as to whether the damper is suitable for the application or not.
